Ms. Edson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI and her Master of Business Administration/Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC. A native of the Boston area, Ms. Edson has over twenty years experience in nursing and management, specializing in Pediatrics/Neonatal nursing. Additionally, she has had consulting and project management experience in commissioning two large state hospitals. In her position as Director of Collaborative Learning for the North Carolina Center for Hospital Quality and Patient Safety, Ms. Edson is responsible for assisting hospitals in improving quality and patient safety. She is works with the Quality Center team to lead collaborative initiatives in Medication Reconciliation, Just Culture, Surgical Care Improvement, Eliminating Methicillin-Resistant Staphylocccus aureus, Teamwork and Communication, Cardiac Care as well as other safety initiatives. The Medication Reconciliation Tool Kit, she was instrumental in developing, has been listed as a resource on the IHI website. Ms. Edson is a certified examiner for the North Carolina Awards for Excellence (NCAfE), the statewide Baldrige program and is a certified Master TeamStepps Trainer, an evidence-based teamwork system developed by the Department of Defense in collaboration with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
