General Assembly is back in session; budget expected soon

NC General Assembly members returned last Wednesday for the 2018 Legislative Short Session. Their main purpose is to make modifications to the biennial budget and enact any other laws within the rules. It is possible that the budget modifications are already finished; if so, legislators will skip the routine process of passing bills between the chambers and simply substitute the language into a conference report which would only require an up or down vote in both chambers. NCHA will keeps members informed as events progress. Meanwhile, the House passed House Bill 933, Reciprocity/School Psychologist Licensure, requiring the NC Department of Education to grant a school psychologist license to anyone holding a National School Psychologist Certification. For more details on this and other healthcare bills filed last week, see the latest NCHA Advocacy Daily Update. This issue also previews the week ahead in Raleigh and provides a federal update on the recent Senate HELP Committee meeting examining the oversight reports on the 340B drug pricing program.
