General Assembly passes budget

The NC General Assembly gave final approval Friday to a $23.9 billion spending plan crafted by House and Senate leaders. It will next go to the Governor, who has 10 days to veto the bill before it becomes law. To read a summary of the budget, please visit the NCHA bill tracking page here and select Senate Bill 99. The bill is also online here.  For more state and federal legislative news, see the latest Advocacy Daily Update. Thanks to advocates from Martin General Hospital, Vidant Health, Novant Health, Dosher Memorial Hospital, Wake Forest Baptist and Johnston Health who joined us in Raleigh this past week to visit with lawmakers. Special thanks to Dana Weston of UNC Rockingham and Shelbourn Stevens of Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center who were featured speakers at the NC Rural Center “Rural Day” on Tuesday. This week is NCHA’s Behavioral Health Advocacy Week. We look forward to visits from health system advocates and behavioral health stakeholders from across the state.
