CMS Proposes CY 2019 ESRD PPS Update; Contains DMEPOS Changes

CMS issued a proposed rule to update payment policies and rates under the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Prospective Payment System (PPS) for services furnished on or after Jan. 1, 2019. Under the proposed ESRD PPS for CY 2019, Medicare expects to pay approximately $10.6 billion to approximately 7,000 ESRD facilities. The rule also proposes changes to bidding and pricing methodologies under the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS). For more details, see today’s Financial Feature.
