Almost 3.2 million people (184,891 in North Carolina) selected a 2019 health plan through HealthCare.gov between Nov. 1 and Dec. 1, including more than 773,000 last week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reported recently. Three-quarters of those selecting plans were renewing coverage and the rest were new consumers. The report shows total plan selections for the period in the 39 states using HealthCare.gov for 2019 open enrollment, which runs through Dec. 15. American Hospital Association-sponsored radio ads are running in North Carolina and a few other states encouraging uninsured listeners to sign up for health coverage through the exchanges during open enrollment, which ends Dec. 15. “We insure our phones to keep in touch. We insure our cars to keep us on the road,” the ads note. “Insuring our health keeps us thriving to do both and so much more.”
