North Carolina Healthcare Association Announces 2021 Board Chair and Trustees

Cary, NC – January 28, 2020 – The North Carolina Healthcare Association (NCHA) today announced John Gizdic, President and Chief Executive Officer of New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, as chairman of its 2021-2022 Board of Trustees. He has been a trustee since 2016 and is currently serving a second three-year term on the board. The board oversees NCHA’s strategic plan and operations in line with the association’s mission to improve the health of North Carolina communities by advocating for sound public policy and collaborative partnerships.

Mr. Gizdic joined NHRMC in 2005 as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development. He assumed the title of Chief Operating Officer in 2013. He became NHRMC President in 2016 and officially became CEO in 2017.

“John is stepping into the role of NCHA board chair at an historic time. Our member health systems and hospitals are continuing to manage high volumes of COVID-19 patients while also mobilizing an unprecedented vaccination program for the patients and communities they serve,” said Steve Lawler, NCHA’s President and CEO. “In addition to helping the board and our members to tackle the big challenges we are facing today, I know that John will also guide us to keep evolving and innovating as a membership association so that we can make North Carolina’s healthcare system a model for the nation,” he added.
