North Carolinians have come to rely on the protections of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Any change made should ensure that those protections remain so that our hospitals can continue to provide high quality care to all.
Nearly 8.3 million people selected a 2021 health plan through the federally facilitated exchange during open enrollment, which began Nov. 1 and ended Dec. 15, 2020. That’s about the same number as last year, though two fewer states are using the federally facilitated platform for 2021 enrollment. North Carolina had the third highest enrollment with 535,803 people signing up for plans on healthcare.gov. Enrollment was up slightly in NC, likely due to job losses from the coronavirus pandemic.
