Medicaid Managed Care Contracting

Please join us Wednesday, April 3 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the North Carolina Healthcare Association (NCHA) for a conference on Medicaid managed care. K&L Gates and Navigant will provide an overview of issues for hospitals to consider as they move forward with contracting and working with Medicaid managed care payers. The conference will focus on operational, regulatory and legal issues, and the speakers will share experiences from other states with Medicaid managed care plans. Registration is limited to NCHA members only, and space is limited.

This meeting is COMPLIMENTARY for NCHA members, but registration is required and space is limited. Please arrive prior to the 1:00 pm start time to pick up your name badge and any materials.

Featured Speakers

Tracy Lawless is a government affairs advisor with K&L Gates, where she is a member of the Public Policy and Law practice group. She concentrates her activity in health care, as well as a diverse array of clients including manufacturing and transportation. She advises companies on strategic policy development, issue management, government solutions, and advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels.

Carla DewBerry practices in the areas of health care law; mergers and acquisitions; and federal, state and local tax with K&L Gates. Ms. DewBerry represents health care clients in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement matters, including related audits and litigation. In addition, she is an experienced tax and business counselor and represents clients in corporate restructurings, joint venture operations, licensing, and federal and state taxation matters. She provides counsel for clients outside the health care industry as well and chairs the audit committee of a Medicaid managed care plan in Washington State which is controlled by a network of providers.

Hanford Lin, a director with Navigant, has 20 years of experience with commercial, Medicaid, and Federal healthcare payers, providers, and life sciences companies working on quality improvement, value-based purchasing models, and fee-for-service and managed care program design, implementation, and operations. He helps states monitor the adequacy and quality of services provided by managed care entities, including waiver services and long-term supports and services. Hanford recently served as the Acting Deputy Secretary of Medicaid for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Jason Duhon, a director with Navigant, has nearly 20 years of experience leading initiatives assisting government payers to evaluate, design and implement systems for healthcare services systems. Jason has significant experience developing applications for Medicaid payers and assisting with Managed Care strategy. Jason has also assisted government payers with fiscal impact analysis, process audits, payment transformation, and behavioral health transformation.
