Commitment examiner

A professional whose scope of practice includes diagnosing psychiatric or substance use disorders and conducting mental status examinations. These professionals include the following: Physicians, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, master’s level or higher nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, and master’s level licensed clinical additions specialists (substance use only). DHHS will continue to certify commitment examiners. The expansion of eligible processionals for a commitment examiner is effective October 1, 2019.
