Equity of Care

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and the most inhuman.” — Martin Luther King, Jr.

North Carolina hospitals and health systems are committed to eliminating health disparities so that everyone has access to the care they need to achieve their highest potential for health. Our health is determined in part by social and economic factors, including employment, housing, education, health care, public safety and food access. Eliminating disparities also includes addressing the underlying social determinants of health, many of which are shaped and perpetuated by bias, injustice and inequality.

Action for Equity

North Carolina hospitals and health systems are working hard to ensure that every person in every community receives high-quality, equitable and safe care by addressing food insecurities and transportation needs to free health screenings for the homeless, and more.

Member Resources
