North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund
Supporting Our Healthcare Heroes
Hurricane Matthew swept through North Carolina on October 8, leaving in its wake hundreds of thousands of families and numerous healthcare facilities without power. Record rainfall from the storm caused historic flooding in southeastern and eastern North Carolina that has driven people from their homes and closed major highways and secondary roads.
Throughout the storm, we were reminded of the resilience of North Carolina's healthcare systems and their dedicated employees. From operating on emergency power to supporting employees that have been evacuated from their homes, those facilities impacted by the storm continue to demonstrate their commitment to serving their communities. Employees continued to care for their neighbors, despite the uncertainties they knew awaited them at home.
NCHA, through the North Carolina Hospital Foundation, established the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund to provide aid to NCHA member hospital and health system employees.
Additional resources may be available to individuals affected by the disaster through the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA).
