How does an employee sign up to receive funds from the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund?
In order to distribute money as quickly as possible, hospital CEOs, Human Resources directors, or other designated leaders of NCHA member hospitals and health systems will collect applications for assistance from hospital employees who meet eligibility criteria for the fund.
What are the eligibility criteria for the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund?
- Must be a full or part-time NCHA member hospital employee who lives in one of the FEMA-designated disaster counties in North Carolina; and
- Must have suffered significant property loss to their home/residence during the October 2016 flooding disaster.
How will the funds be distributed?
Payments by check from The North Carolina Hospital Foundation will be made to NCHA member hospital/health system employees based on the total number of eligible employee requests and the total amount donated to the Fund by December 31, 2016. The hospitals will distribute the checks to employees during the month of January 2017.
What is the North Carolina Hospital Foundation?
The North Carolina Hospital Foundation is a 501(C)(3) organization established to provide a central resource for the state's hospitals to participate collectively in information, research and education activities that enhance the hospitals' abilities to achieve their common mission of serving patients and health care needs of their communities.
How did the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund determine its distribution policy?
The goal of the policy is to ensure that the funds donated to the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund are:
- Used in the most appropriate and effective manner to assist hospital employees who, due to the October 2016 Hurricane and flooding disaster, suffered significant property loss to their homes/residences;
- Distributed in a timely manner with a minimum amount of paperwork; and
- Distributed in their entirety with no administrative costs deducted.
How will I know that my donation to the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund was received?
Every donor will receive a written or electronic acknowledgement that will include information needed for tax purposes.
How much of my donation goes to the North Carolina Hospital Employee Assistance Fund?
All donations will go to hospital and health system employees who suffered significant property loss to their homes/residences during the October 2016 hurricane and flooding disaster. All administrative services are being provided by the North Carolina Hospital Association so that 100 percent of your donation will be used to assist hospital employees.
Can I donate to a specific hospital or employee?
We are sorry, but we cannot process designated donations.
