North Carolina Healthcare Foundation Receives Support from Wells Fargo to Address Housing Need
RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Healthcare Foundation (NCHF), with support from the Wells Fargo Foundation, announced the launch of Advancing Access: Housing as a Driver of Health, a statewide initiative focused on strengthening healthcare access by addressing housing as a critical factor in health and well-being.
Hospitals and community partners consistently identify stable, affordable housing as essential to improving health outcomes and care coordination. As healthcare systems navigate ongoing changes in healthcare policy and care delivery, Advancing Access brings stakeholders together in a series of statewide meetings to work through housing-related challenges that directly affect access to care. The initiative will also include strategies for rural communities, where housing instability and limited access to services often intersect.
“These conversations are about identifying practical, collaborative ways to support communities and improve health,” said Emily Roland, Executive Director of Program Implementation at the North Carolina Healthcare Foundation. “By centering housing as a driver of health, we can better understand the barriers patients face and identify opportunities for partnership across sectors.”
To learn more about this initiative, join NCHF on August 27, September 24, and November 5 for “Advancing Access: Housing and Health”, a free, three-part webinar series highlighting innovative housing solutions led by hospitals and their community partners. Each virtual session will explore a key housing challenge, showcase promising strategies to improve health and access to care, and provide opportunities for discussion on lessons learned, common challenges, and cross-sector collaboration. Please register for each event in the series by visiting our webpage.
At the end of the convenings, NCHF will publish a summary report highlighting key insights, effective approaches, and opportunities for future collaboration. The report will be shared with hospitals, community partners, and policymakers to inform local planning and support continued innovation.
